Develop Rail is a specialist
business unit within the Technical
Skills Training division and
was formed to provide creative
track safety and track induction
railway industry training solutions
for a safety conscious and competitive
UK railway industry.
It provides competence assessment
methods that can be applied
to all events, resulting in
certification that is recognised
throughout the rail industry.
Develop rail offer to meet
the UK railway industry's ever
increasing pressure to provide
evidence of staff competency
in accordance with national
standards.
On site
consultancy
In addition to the open course
programme, we can provide customised
railway industry training to
meet particular training needs
such as the permanent way training.
Many companies like to include
their own procedures within
an existing course to suit their
working patterns and manpower
planning. On site consultancy
enables us to design an event
to suit your circumstances.
As railway industry training
provided to the UK multi utilities
grows steadily, Develop can
provide a realistic and cost
effective solution.
TRACK INDUCTION
TRAINING OPTIONS
The Track Induction Course
- Permanent Way Engineering
has been introduced by Network
Rail as part of its drive to
improve technical competence.
This is a foundation course
for staff who are new to track
work and provides the knowledge
requirements that underpin competence.
Permanent Way Engineering is
seen as the first step for a
career in track work, providing
the basic skills for progression.
This is a mandatory course
for all staff new to the track
engineering function. Its purpose
is to give delegates a basic
but broad understanding of the
principles behind track engineering.
Who
is it for?
This event is for all new track
engineering staff. It applies
to those work roles where the
principal duties are carrying
out track:
- Maintenance
- Inspection, or
- Renewal
The
Develop solution
The permanent way training
consists of a number of subject
areas, presented as modules.
The first week includes Company
Induction, PTS, First Aid, Fire
Awareness and Manual Handling.
Track engineering theory and
practice is covered in week
two, using purpose built practical
training facilities. Develop
provides the course in choice
of formats, to suit your needs:
- Course code RPW28 Full 10
day course
- Course code RPW29 Week 2
(five days)
- Course code RPW30 Week 2
plus PTS (seven days)
Upon successful completion
of the course assessment the
National Competency and Control
Agency (NCCA) will be notified
for issue of certification,
valid for 2 years. At Develop
we complete and send course
paperwork to NCCA within 2 days
of course completion, ensuring
rapid receipt of certification.

retail assessment strategy and
trained internal verifiers who
have developed their own assessment
strategies.
Siemens
